Our reward scheme for client referrals

In 2012, Pacesetter is actively seeking new clients as part of our plans to grow, develop and improve. And in 2012, it is more important than ever that people take care of the financial side of their lives.

Having and following a financial plan can directly affect exactly how much money you end up retiring with.

Not having appropriate insurance protection strategies in place could be disastrous if something goes wrong.

In our latest version of our newsletter inTouch, the article “If you’re happy with our advice, then …  Don’t keep us a secret!” talks about how obtaining advice doesn’t just make you wealthier, it could also make you happier!  The article quotes research that says that financial advice gives people peace of mind.

In December we posed the question in our separate article ”Can we help somebody you know?“.

For our part, to acknowledge your contribution to our goals of growth and development, we’d like to reward you with a gift as a gesture of our thanks and appreciation.   A magazine subscription arranged by us and delivered to your door for 6 or 12 months will communicate our thanks to you many times over and by offering a selection of titles that you can choose from, there should be something to fit your interests.

So how do you go about referring our services to somebody you know?  A good and very easy way to introduce people to Pacesetter is to provide them with a copy of our latest newsletter.  To arrange to send somebody you know our latest Issue of our inTouch newsletter, just click on this button to provide us with the details and we’ll take care of the rest.   Of course, you can also simply telephone us with the details or email us.  You can also provide the details to any of our staff when you next see them.  If the person you referred to us proceeds to engage and implement our advice and becomes a client of Pacesetter, then you can expect to hear from us to arrange what magazine will be turning up at your door!

Making a difference through the Fortnum Foundation

The Fortnum Foundation was established in 2011 by Fortnum Financial Advisers and its mandate is to provide for the maintenance, education, protection and well being of children at home and overseas.

The Foundation has been registered as a Deductible Gift Recipient which means that donations made to the Foundation are fully tax deductible.

As we announced in our article in January this year, there are 2 current benefactor charities of the Foundation.

Love Mercy is the foundation established by Australian track athlete Eloise Wellings and her colleagues and supports children in Uganda.

The Little Heroes Foundation supports children in Australia living with cancer and serious illness and their families.

We are proud to support both of these worthy charities and proud of our own Mal Jensen who has already done one cycle for charity this year (see article about his Santos Tour Down Under cancer ride) and will embark upon a gruelling 1200km ride along the Great Ocean Road from 26 April with other representatives of Fortnum Financial Advisers and the Foundation to raise money for our nominated charities.

Would you be willing to make a tax deductible donation to the Fortnum Foundation to sponsor Mal for his ride on 26 April?

If you are, please contact us as we would be delighted to hear from you!

All funds raised by Mal will go directly to the Fortnum Foundation to the benefit of the nominated charities.  All costs associated with undertaking the ride itself have been borne by Mal personally.

Help us to develop a library of materials on aged care

Have you faced the challenges that aged care inevitably brings to a family?  Have you discovered something you wish you’d known at the beginning?

Your knowledge shared could be of great value to somebody else who might be just beginning to embark upon what can be a very emotional, complicated, confusing and frustrating journey.

We have created a new area on our website dedicated to this very important topic, to hopefully develop a source of materials to help members of the Pacesetter family who are in need of as much knowledge about aged care as they can get their hands on.

If you are willing to share, please contact us to tell us your story or give us your tips.  We’ll be in contact with you about including your information in our new aged care library of materials on our website.

For our existing clients and contacts, our latest inTouch newsletter being distributed (Issue 1 2012) contains the article “Five key questions on aged care“.  If you aren’t a client or contact of Pacesetter and would like to receive inTouch, you can use the link below to request for it to be sent to you.

School holidays Easter colouring competition for the kids

Its already that time of year again and in Queensland our school students now have a 2 week holiday rather than 1 week to drive their parents mad!

So, we thought we might try to help you to keep them amused, even if just for a short while!

For the kids of our clients and contacts, you can download our Easter colouring competition sheet here.

The competition will close on Wednesday 18 April when we will judge our lucky winner, who will receive the $50 Target voucher.

Please send us by post or by email (in colour) your entries.  We’ll accept one for each child of 13 years or under of our clients or contacts who’d like to enter.

You can view all the entries we have received for our Easter colouring competition here.

Do you have a story to tell and share about one of our team?

We have now received several client testimonials that we are working on posting to our website and we hope that they will help us to demonstrate how our services have helped our clients and what their experience has been in dealing with Pacesetter on a professional level.

As our article “Can we help somebody you know” intimates, choosing a financial adviser is a very personal thing and often “who do I trust” is the most or a very important factor.   However, it is obviously not the only factor, and it is very important also that beyond the essential trust issue, there is a mutual respect and connection between adviser and client.

For some people, that can be a shared interest.  It can be a shared sense of humour.  It might be the circumstances in which you first met or were introduced.

What is it for you?  Do you have a story to tell?

If you are an existing client of Pacesetter, what is it that you like about your adviser?   It could simply just be a funny story that puts a human face Or, is there something engaging you can share that relates to one of our valued Support Team?

We deliberately called the area on this website that contains our client testimonials “What our Clients Say” for this reason.  Client stories and why people choose an financial adviser is not just all about trust or technical knowledge or advice given.  A good and mutually rewarding adviser/client relationship is so much more.

If you are willing, please share with us any engaging stories or experiences you have of any of the team at Pacesetter, be they part of our Advice Team or part of our Support Team.

Simply email us your story and we can work with you to hopefully post some more information about your experience to our “What our Clients Say” area.

Of course, we would welcome any more formal client testimonial that you would be willing to give and again you can email us details of the following to get the ball rolling:

  • When and why did you seek financial advice (including who is your adviser)?
  • What are the strategies that Pacesetter has advised you on?
  • What has getting financial advice from Pacesetter meant to you?
  • Would you recommend that other people seek financial advice and would you recommend Pacesetter?
  • Send us a photograph of you doing something that you feel has been directly attributable to or possible from your obtaining financial advice.

Malcolm cycles in the Santos Tour Down Under fundraising event for cancer research

Mal Jensen, our resident cycling star, took part in the Santos Tour Down Under / BUPA Challenge “Ride for a Reason” fundraising cycling event in Adelaide in January.

The official charity partner of the event was the Cancer Council and the money raised was for critical cancer research.

Why “ride for a reason”?  Well, there is a very good reason.   The Cancer Council website quotes some frightening statistics, including that one in two Australians are diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85.

The event was also aptly sponsored by BUPA.  Whether your medical insurance is through BUPA or another provider, health insurance plays a very important part in getting well if you were to face a major illness.

Like the PROTECT personal insurances strategies that we advise on (life, trauma, income protection, TPD, etc), the point of the insurances is that they help you to financially cope with the unexpected, allow you to concentrate on your health and remove the worries and stresses about money, providing for your family or being a burden to others.   Accidents are called that for a reason, they can’t be predicted and nobody knows what is around the corner.

Our last inTouch newsletter of 2011 contained articles that are very topical in the area of insurance and dealing with unexpected illness or injury:

  • Don’t let misfortune steal your business.  Business owners are often vulnerable to the loss of a business partner or key employee.
  • Are your retirement plans at risk?  A setback for your adult children could eat into your retirement savings.

If you are not a client of Pacesetter and would like to request to receive our regular newsletter, you can visit the page regarding our last inTouch newsletter of 2011 and subscribe to our updates.

Pacesetter supports the Love Mercy and Little Heroes Foundations

In 2012 we look forward to sharing with you more information about Love Mercy, the foundation established by Australian track athlete Eloise Wellings.

Mal Jensen and Peter Beauchamp met Eloise at the Fortnum Annual Conference in September 2011, where Eloise told us the inspirational story of how Love Mercy came about and how it helps children in Uganda who deal with injustices and persecution that are unfathomable to those of us who are lucky enough to live in a country such as Australia.

Pacesetter were pleased to make a donation to Love Mercy which will go towards the building and provisioning of a maternity hospital in Uganda.   To put in perspective the contrast between conditions in Uganda and Australia, somewhere around $60,000 in total will create a maternity hospital, not just buy certain pieces of equipment!

Pacesetter’s donation plus those made by the other firms present was matched in total by an equal donation by the Fortnum Foundation, a charitable entity established by our Fortnum Financial Advisers group.

The second benefactor of the donations made at our Annual Conference was the Little Heroes Foundation which supports children in Australia living with cancer and serious illness and their families.

As 2012 is now upon us, we hope to be able to update you during the course of the year with more information about these very worthwhile charities and how both Pacesetter and the Fortnum Foundation are helping them to help children in need.

We also hope that we are able to report that Eloise’s many years of training and hard work pay off with her qualifying to represent Australia on the track at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.   Go Eloise!

Centrelink News for Seniors (Issue 86 2011) is Available

I received my copy today of News for Seniors from Centrelink.

Beyond being impressed by how good Noelene Brown is looking on the cover for a lady in her 70′s, I found that there were a few interesting articles that were worth a read by retirees:

  • Support for self-funded retirees
  • Support for senior Australians receiving a pension

If you don’t already receive this publication from Centrelink, it is published 3 times a year and is always available on the Centrelink website.

Do you know anybody who might benefit from receiving Pacesetter updates about issues relevant to retirees and general information about the ENJOY phase of their life.   Do you know somebody who might benefit from the financial advice that Pacesetter provides, whether they be interested in PROTECT, PLAN or ENJOY strategies and advice?   If you do, then contact us to let us know their email address and we can send them an invitation to learn more about Pacesetter and our services.
